George Kolber

Kolber is the managing partner of GVK Limited Partners, which provides private equity investment and corporate financing needs.   He also heads Navesink River Productions LLC, Kolber Productions LLC and Kolber Properties LLC which owns and manages commercial properties.

 Kolber is the writer/producer of the movie Miranda’s Victim which tells the story of the rape victim whose case resulted in the 1966 Supreme Court decision establishing what is commonly referred to as the Miranda Rights.

 Kolber also coauthored, Thrown Upon The World, a story about his families’ escape to Shanghai during WWII; the trauma of postwar survival in refugee camps; and the challenges of getting to the United States.  Kolber wrote an episodic screenplay based on that story.

 His previous experiences include that of CEO and Vice Chairman of the $2 Billion Retail Ventures Inc. (NYSE: RVI), which operated Value City Department Stores, Filene’s Basement and DSW Shoe Warehouse.  He also served as the Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of American Eagle Outfitters, Inc (NYSE:AE) where the company grew from a market capitalization of $225 million to over $2.25 billion.  Mr. Kolber was the Chairman and CEO of Body Shop of America (NYSE: BODY), a national retail chain with a catalog and e-commerce operation.  In the past, Kolber has enjoyed a great deal of success in turning around troubled companies.

Kolber, recently a Commissioner of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, previously served on the Boards of Wieboldts’ Department Stores, Penn Jersey Automotive (Chairman), Strauss Stores Corporation and other retailing and consumer product companies.

Mr. Kolber served on the Board of Trustees for Jumpstart, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization, whose focus is to help promote early literacy for economically underprivileged children.  He is the Chairman of the Kolber Family Foundation; Trustee of Monmouth University; served on the of the University of the District of Columbia’s School of Business; served on Meridian Hospitals’ Board; is a past Chairman of Riverview Medical Center Foundation, Red Bank, NJ, and is actively engaged in promoting Holocaust and Genocide awareness.

 Among numerous honors, Mr. Kolber is a recipient of the Maurice Pollak award, the Jewish Heritage award and the Crown American Leadership in Real Estate award. Mr. Kolber served in the US Army Reserves from 1969 until 1975.  He lives in Middletown, NJ with his wife Vita.  Also living nearby are his two children, Lisa and Richard and his granddaughter Sloane.
